Nina’s work explores the emotions of nature—its quiet resilience, raw beauty, and moments of stillness—drawing parallels to the human experience. She sees nature as a powerful counterbalance to life’s daily stresses, reframing challenges and offering clarity through its enduring presence. This perspective informs her work, inviting viewers to find grounding and inspiration in the natural world.
Her journey with photography began in childhood, inspired by her father, an artist, who set up a small darkroom in a bathroom of his Brooklyn studio. Those early experiences with film photography sparked a lifelong fascination with storytelling through images.
Nina earned a Master’s degree in Journalism in 2014, and covered business, politics and economics as a reporter in Dubai and Washington D.C., but after the birth of her second child, she left the grind of journalism to raise her family and pursue creative interests.
Nina’s background in journalism will always shape her storytelling approach, imbuing her imagery with thoughtful narratives and an eye for detail. She’s photographed a wide range of subjects, including travel features, business portraits, weddings, families, and interiors.
Nina has been based in Sintra, Portugal since 2022.
